Pre-sea training (Deck-Rating)

The training program is designed for the candidates who are desirous of perusing career in Deck category in merchant shipping and ought to become Deck officers or Navigation officers.

Introduction to shipping industry, Familiarization with deck department of the ship, Deck safety, Navigation, Metrology, Watch keeping duties, Search & Rescue operations, Flag Signals & codes, Life saving appliances, Survival at Sea, Swimming, Personality development, English & Computer etc.

Student after successfully accomplishing the training program will be awarded with the course certificate, by the academy approved by Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface and Transport Govt. of India. In inclusion to the above candidate will also receive INDOS and INDIAN CDC (Continuous Discharge Certificate)

Eligibility:

10th,12th pass (Art/ Commerce/ Science) from recognized board. English should have been one of the subjects.

Age:

Age:17.5 to 28 years.

Medical Fitness:

Medically fit (+ or – 2.5 eye vision is acceptable) without colour blindness.

Selection Procedure:

NMS undertakes an Aptitude tests followed by CET of IMU. The final selection will only take place after medical check-up through our panel Doctor, approved by D. G. Shipping Govt. of India.

Career Flow Chart :

After training join as Deck Rating / Trainee Cadet. [Salary: 250$ - 500$]

12 months sea experience, Promoted as AB or BOSUN. [Salary: 800$ - 1200$]

18 month sea experience, Promoted as Deck Officer / 3rd Officer [Salary: 1500$ - 2500$].

After 36 months sea experience & passing 2nd mate exam, 2nd Officer [Salary: 2500$ - 3000$].

Further sea experience & passing exam, Chief Officer [Salary: 3000$ - 5000$].
